Michael Behrens, Jr.
Michael Behrens is a native of West Virginia. In 2012, he graduated as an Honor’s Scholar from West Virginia University cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and minor in Spanish. In 2015, Michael graduated with his Juris Doctor degree from the West Virginia University College of Law, where he received honors for his achievement in the Immigration Law courses and where practiced in the Immigration Law Clinic.
When Michael decided to go to law school, he had hopes of practicing in the corporate realm. However, after spending a year working with the less fortunate, immigrant community in West Virginia and witnessing the many injustices of the immigration system, he discovered his passion for immigration law. Michael decided to relocate to Denver, Colorado, so that he could focus his practice on immigration law and help keep families together as he realized he could help many more immigrants outside of West Virginia where there is a limited immigrant population.
In Denver, Michael worked for several small firms where he gained experience in many aspects of immigration law, including affirmative applications before USCIS and defensive applications before the Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals. He also has extensive experience working with victims of crimes and other types of trauma, including domestic violence and human trafficking.
Michael joined MGZ Philadelphia in November 2018 to work in a larger firm that is better suited to help the immigrant community in Philadelphia and at-large through collaboration and zealous advocacy.
